Sony HVR-Z1U Camcorder user reviews

""I bought Sony HVR-Z1U Camcorder last year, it could be used for making a feature movie, out of this camera, perfect for independent filmmakers overall resolution is just stunning compared to such old dv formats, compared to my canon XL1s, this piece of equipment has a lot to offer from your expectations, to its function and abilities, the price is a steal.
Problems Encountered: NON, I shoot with this camera at ease.
Previous Equivalent Items Owned: CANON XL1S.
Items I Recommend: With its own deck/vtr sony HVR-M10U, tiffen 72mm clear glass filter, and bag to fit this camera."

""I've used Sony HVR-Z1U Camcorder, professionally, now for about 2 years. The camera performs well and produces a quality image. The 12X magnification, leaves a little to be desired, expecially when videotaping out West where it's the norm to get long range shots. I purchased a 2X lense from B&H but that was a waste of money. The lenses sold for this camera are not HD quality clear or sharp. The image stabilization is decentbut not fantastic. The low light capability is poor at 2 lux. I have to generally leave with about 20 to 30 minutes of decent hunting light left. (This drives the hunters nuts)
The controls are user friendly and well designed, the view screen is good but personally, I don't like it sticking out so far out. I broke it off once already (That can happen when it falls out of the tree)Ooops... Ouch! I've had some tape problems. I think it was probably bad tape and not a camera problem. The audio adjustments are pretty good.
All-in-all I like the camera."

""We use Sony HVR-Z1U Camcorder for in our new business for weddings, reunions, graduations from drug programs -- or for any other excuse. We have two of them: They can be programed in such a way that they work in sync to the frame. Great feature. I give this camera 5 stars. I also bought the extended warranty. If I drop it in the water, all I do is fish it out and they will take care of it. Great insurance!"

""I travel and do cultural documentaries. Sony HVR-Z1U Camcorder is a good camera for what I do. Light, but not too light. Good controls on it. Good in low light. Overall another excellent Sony camera. Dual xlr is a must. I use it with 2 senheiser g2 packs. I'd love it if there was interchangeable lenses."

""As an Producer, Director and Artist, if you take time to master Sony HVR-Z1U Camcorder , you can produce amazing pictures close to Sony's [$] cameras. Your aperture, lighting, filters, depth of field, proper exposure and white balance is the key. [@]"
