Panasonic SDR-S10 Camcorder user reviews

"Panasonic SDR-S10 Camcorder is a dead handy little camcorder, fits in your pocket so makes it very handy to carry about. It's rugged enough, takes a few knocks and a bit of weather - I've been using mine with horses/on building restoration projects/on rivers - all with attendant grit/grime/hair/water/mud - and no problems whatsoever. It likes bright sunshine best (good clear pix) but doesn't really handle low lux well, so if you're into night shooting get a recorder with that facility. I think this is a terrific little camcorder, and turns out perfectly watchable videos - if you're not going up against very high definition stuff. Pity the editing suite is limited. But, if you get another editing suite - I tried Pinnacle Ultimate 12 and wasn't that a disaster? so switched to Sony Vegas, which seems to understand the Pansonic, once loaded onto Motion Studio (the software that comes with this package) then transferred to the Vegas suite. The results are pleasingly good. The thing to remember about this little camera is that it's an efficient pocket-size gadget which will deliver you of good, crisp shots provided you don't hosepipe it about all over the place, it's a not a heavy-duty top-of-the-range box-office hit top-spec gismo. It's a down-to-earth, well thought-out, quick-and-handy camcorder that has become for me something I keep in my pocket pretty much all the time, just to catch those fleeting shots which a bigger, clumsier and more complicated camera you wouldn't have whipped out of its bag by the time that unique incident you've snapped up with your fast-load, pocketfull of Pani has come and been and gone and you're off home on your bike with the results in the can ready to flog to the beeb.     "I am a video editor by trade. I make TV shows and up until recently I have carried huge DV camera's around with me to make sure every moment of my kids youth is captured. As they grew older, the need to film grew less and less appealing as it ruined many a day out.

Panasonic SDR-S10 Camcorder has made it fun again. Sure the picture quality isn't High Def, but it does the job for home movies.

When twinned with iMovie 08 it's super easy to cut your home movies and share them with people and stick them on DVD or on YouTube. We watch them, enjoy them just like we did when I was carrying around a big camera.

The camera is small, shock proof and splash resistant. The only downside is the battery life and the fact that you only get 23 minutes of footage on the supplied card, but I have just ordered 2 new batteries and a bigger SD card - so I'm set for more fun times! "

"I have had this camera for almost 6 months now. Panasonic SDR-S10 Camcorder is light and small, fast to bootup (especially from standby with the screen closed) and - within the limits of a camera with these specifications - produces good movies. The key is the expectations; this is a cheap (or rather, inexpensive)video camera. Its never going to produce top of the range video. Dont pan too fast with it, plus it will struggle in a candle-lit room. But its very portable, and for 'capturing the moment' its pretty much perfect.
I havent thoroughly tried out the ruggedness of the camera - showerproof and shock resistant to 1.2m - but it has been rained on and has been knocked off a table. This, coupled with the relatively low price means that you dont need to be too precious with it. I take it anywhere and everywhere without any worries. No point in having a camera to record memories if its at home.
Only 4 stars because the still photos are poor (0.8Mp) - though this is a video camera after all; some of the controls are a little fiddly -though the dual record buttons and placement of the zoom rocker are spot on; and there is no lens cover, so there is one rather important area of vulnerability.
If you are looking for a small video camera to record the family's antics, this is for you. "
"I've had this camcorder for a couple months now and I'm very happy with it.

Panasonic SDR-S10 Camcorder has great imaging during the day, outdoors, and indoors with ample lighting. It's size makes it very easy to keep it with you almost where ever you go. I even recorded a "first person" clip on a roller coaster which turned out nicely. The SD card storage is a nice touch, no more "buzz" from the cassette motors on your recording. It does fall a bit short in lower light settings so beware if you're looking to take out on night hikes and such, but it is splash proof and shock proof up to 4ft.

Overall a great unit for casual trips and family events, and beginning camcorder owners.

"What a great machine. Firstly Panasonic SDR-S10 Camcordershock proof and resists water (splashes). The camera is very small so you can easily fit in a pocket or bag. Comes with all the accessories including a 2GB SD card (although I would recommend buying another 4GB (Does not take above 4GB). The battery life is great and the picture quality really good. It comes with three quality modes, XP (EXCELLENT, SHARP, CLEAR), SP (Usual camcorder qiality), LP (Still very good and you can record for ages). The machine takes pictures aswell!

The best bit is how easily you can record to DVD with the software and USB cable which it comes with. SD Camera's are the way forward! "
